UAE VAT looks simple until the quarter ends. One rate, nine boxes — and then a zero-rated export, an exempt financial charge, a designated-zone movement and an imported service under reverse charge all want different treatment, and getting them right depends on how the invoice was classified months earlier.
| Box | Description | Amount | VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1a | Standard rated — Dubai | 842,600.00 | 42,130.00 |
| 1b | Standard rated — Sharjah | 218,400.00 | 10,920.00 |
| 4 | Zero rated supplies | 116,400.00 | 0.00 |
| 5 | Exempt supplies | 38,000.00 | — |
| 9 | Recoverable input VAT | 624,800.00 | 31,240.00 |
Box 1 splits by emirate, taken from the place of supply on the invoice rather than from wherever the head office happens to be registered.
They are not the same. Input VAT on a zero-rated supply is recoverable and on an exempt one is not, so tBiz treats them as different classifications rather than two words for nil.
Imported goods and services post the output and the input, so the return shows them in both places and nets correctly.
Customer TRNs validated for format when the party is saved, so an input credit is not questioned a year later over a typo.
Movements into and out of a designated zone follow their own rules, classified on the document rather than remembered at quarter end.
A worksheet for bad-debt relief, the capital assets scheme and exempt apportionment — the figures no system can compute from documents alone.
Yes. Every box is computed from your own invoices, bills and vouchers, with emirate-wise standard-rated supplies and a worksheet for the adjustments that cannot be derived from documents. Filing happens on the FTA portal with your own credentials.
Yes. The tax regime is set per company, so a group runs VAT books in AED on a January year and GST books in INR on an April year under one login. That is the main reason Gulf groups with an Indian arm look at tBiz.
No. There is no Arabic in the product today. If you must issue bilingual Arabic and English tax invoices, tBiz is not the right choice yet, and we would rather say so here than have you discover it in week three.
It keeps the books corporate tax is computed from, on the accrual basis the law expects. The return itself is not generated — that is a separate filing.
