Zoho Books alternatives with deeper inventory

Almost nobody leaves Zoho Books because the accounting is wrong. They leave because the stock module ran out, or because Books, Inventory, People and CRM turned into four bills and four user counts. Both are arithmetic problems rather than accounting ones.

The short verdictREAD THIS FIRST

Look at tBiz if…

  • Stock has become the business: warehouses, batches, serials, transfers.
  • You manufacture or assemble and need real costing.
  • Four subscriptions have become the main line in the budget.
  • You want India and the UAE in one account.

Look elsewhere if…

  • You run the wider Zoho suite and the integration is the point — then stay.
  • You are a services business and stock depth would be wasted.
  • You need Arabic invoicing, which Zoho has and tBiz does not.
  • The app marketplace is doing real work for you.

What the realistic alternatives actually are

Zoho’s own higher plans — do this arithmetic first

Before leaving, price the upgrade. Multi-warehouse and batch tracking exist further up the range, and if you only need those the cheapest move may be no move at all.

Tally or Busy — if you want a desktop

Both give you serious trading depth immediately, at the cost of going back to per-seat licences and one location. Coming from a cloud product this usually feels like a step backwards unless stock is genuinely the whole business.

QuickBooks — a sideways move

Comparable as a ledger, weaker on Indian GST return work, and no batch tracking at all. Rarely the answer to an inventory complaint.

tBiz — stock depth without the subscription stack

Multi-warehouse, batch and expiry, serials, bill of materials and job work in the product, with payroll, HR, CRM and field staff in the same workspace and unlimited users. You lose Zoho’s ecosystem and its Arabic invoicing.

Questions about leaving Zoho Books

Why do businesses outgrow Zoho Books?

Two reasons, both about scale rather than quality: the inventory module runs out when you need multiple warehouses, batch tracking or manufacturing, and the subscription stack grows when payroll, CRM and inventory each become a separate product with its own per-user bill.

Is there an alternative with better inventory that is still cloud-based?

tBiz is built that way — stock depth in the core product rather than in a higher plan. The honest comparison is that Zoho has a much larger ecosystem and prints Arabic invoices, and we do not.

Can I export my data out of Zoho Books?

Yes, parties, items and balances export to CSV without difficulty. Transaction history is usually better left in place and started fresh from a period boundary.

Will I lose the app integrations?

Most likely yes, and it is worth listing which ones you actually use before moving. That list is usually shorter than people expect, but occasionally it contains something decisive.

Moving off Zoho Books

Parties, items and opening balances export cleanly to CSV. Start the new system at a period boundary and keep Zoho as the archive for the closed year.
