tBiz vs QuickBooks for Indian and UAE businesses

QuickBooks is a mature accounting product with a long history and an interface built for a bookkeeper. The question for a business in India or the Gulf is how much of your compliance work it does natively, and how much you end up doing beside it.

The short verdictREAD THIS FIRST

Choose tBiz if…

  • GST or UAE VAT compliance is a monthly job, not an occasional one.
  • You hold real stock with batches, serials or multiple warehouses.
  • You want payroll and HR in the same system as the ledger.
  • You have staff in the field who should be billing and collecting.
  • You run entities in both India and the UAE.

Stay on QuickBooks if…

  • Your accountant is trained on it and that familiarity is worth more than the feature gap.
  • You need a large accountant and bookkeeper ecosystem around the product.
  • Your business is services with little or no inventory.
  • You are consolidating with overseas entities already on QuickBooks.

Where the difference actually shows up

The GST return

A general-purpose ledger can produce a tax report. Producing GSTR-1 table by table, reconciling against the 2B, and telling you which invoices will be rejected before you file is a different depth of work, and it is monthly.

Batch numbers

If you distribute anything with an expiry date or a serial number, the absence of batch tracking is not a feature gap — it is a reason the product cannot be used for the job at all.

Staff

Payroll in QuickBooks depends heavily on the region you are in. In tBiz, attendance, shifts, statutory deductions and the salary journal are the same system as the ledger, in both India and the UAE.

Where QuickBooks still wins

The ecosystem, and Arabic invoicing. There are far more accountants trained on QuickBooks, far more apps that connect to it, and it prints Arabic tax invoices where we do not.

Questions about moving from QuickBooks

Is QuickBooks enough for GST compliance in India?

It will produce tax reports, and many businesses make it work with a CA filling the gaps. What it does not do natively is build GSTR-1 table by table, reconcile against the GSTR-2B, or check invoices for the errors that cause rejections — which is where the monthly time goes.

Does tBiz handle UAE VAT as well as QuickBooks?

For the return itself, yes — every box of the VAT 201 is computed from your documents, with emirate-wise standard supplies, reverse charge and designated zones. The one place QuickBooks is ahead is bilingual Arabic invoicing, which tBiz does not do today.

Can I keep an Indian and a UAE company in one tBiz account?

Yes. The tax regime is set per company, so one login covers GST books and VAT books, each with its own currency, financial year and numbering.

Can I import my QuickBooks data?

Chart of accounts, parties, items and opening balances by CSV. Transaction history is normally left in QuickBooks as an archive rather than replayed.

Moving from QuickBooks

Chart of accounts, parties, items and opening balances come across as CSV. Most businesses move at a period boundary and keep QuickBooks as the archive for closed years.

Compare on a real month

Import a month of invoices and bills and run the GST or VAT return in both. That is the comparison that decides it.
